My new PC runs on Windows 8.1 and I have found no desktop email client program that will work with both Windows 8.1 and the Verizon FIOS email server. With the redirect, it queries DNS for his own domain, goes to the proxy and get a redirect, it queries for the redirect URL and connects to autodiscover afterwards. On my old Windows XP PC I used Outlook Express as my desktop email client, to interface with the Verizon FIOS email server. In both cases, the fat outlook client (not domain joined) is handling autodiscover correctly. I tried to configure autodiscover through a reverse proxy with redirection and through a DNS SRV record.

Outlook client, the mail app doesn't seems to pick up this redirection and does not even try to connect to that URL? The reverse proxy returns a redirect to autodiscover.ad. However, a network trace turned out that the mail app performs a DNS query for autodiscover. We have an multi-tenant Exchange 2016 CU1 on-premises infrastructure in which autodiscover, Outlook and OWA works perfect.īecause of the multi-tenancy, for each and every mail domain, a redirection on the reverse proxy has been created to redirect all those autodiscover URLs to one and the same target URL as configured on the autodiscover virtual directory.
